Malaysia

The development of a National Textiles Museum for Malaysia is an ambitious and laudable project. Textiles are the highest art of Asia, they are of great cultural and religious significance.

It is visionary for the Malaysian government to exalt this work and it is setting a new standard in Asian art appreciation. The Malaysian government recognizes the importance of Malaysia’s textile heritage and aim to set up a world-class, textile museum in Asia. The collection held by the National Museum of Malaysia is a superb and unique collection which has the potential to showcase traditional and disappearing skills while increasing appreciation of Malaysian artistic endeavours for all Malaysians and the rest of the world.
