
World Congress on Information Technology 2008 (WCIT 2008)

WCIT 2008 held every two years, and Malaysia has been chosen as the first Southeast Asian nation to host this event and is jointly organized by the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) and the Association of the Computer and Multimedia Industry of Malaysia (PIKOM), with the support of the Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation Malaysia, via WCIT 2008 Sdn. Bhd. was held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 19th – 21st May 2008 with a total of 5 exhibition halls and approximately 400 booths.
This is the flagship event of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), a consortium of 73 international ICT organizations whose members comprise more than 90% of the global ICT market.
WCIT 2008 with its congress theme – "To Enable Businesses, Empower Societies and Enrich Economies" is all about the world leaders in the ICT industry coming together with the governments of the world to share valuable insights, address global concerns on ICT industry and most importantly, to expand ICT opportunities on a global scale.
PICO was accorded the status of official contractor for this event and some of the booths awarded to PICO are namely, Microsoft, Telekom Malaysia, K-Perak, Manpower, Pahang, Asiatic Centre for Genome Technology Sdn. Bhd., GKP and many others.
